For GATE qualified candidates, there are two usual options. They can either go for post-graduation or can start looking for a job. Not all GATE qualified candidates want to go for higher studies. There are many PSUs(Public Sector Undertakings) that recruit candidates through GATE score card. Who doesn’t want a job in a government organization?
More than 14 public sector companies recruit their candidates through GATE exam. These companies include HPCL, POWERGRID, BPCL, GAIL India, IOCL, NTPC, BHEL, MECON, BEL, NALCO, Concor India, HECL, DDA and MECL.
In year 2014, even more public sector companies may add in the list.
GATE score can be considered as a factor in the recruitment process by some private companies but no private company hire candidates directly based on their GATE marks.
Apart from company jobs, there are also available teacher jobs for M.Tech or GATE qualified candidates. If you have successfully qualified the GATE exam to score high marks, that means you have good knowledge of your engineering subjects. This is why many engineering colleges and institutions hire GATE qualified candidates.
